Prince Harry & Megan’s Middle East Trip: James Holt’s Ongoing PR Role

James Holt's changing role from Archewell as Harry and Meghan did their Middle East trip amid PR staffing rumors.

Here’s some news that came to light this week regarding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s PR setup. The situation with James Holt actually seems a bit different from early reports.

The Stepping Away By Holt

Certainly, Holt stepped down as the Executive Director of Archewell Foundation, now rebranded as Archewell Philanthropies. Apparently, that happened back in December 2025.

Notably, the reason seemed pretty straightforward. Actually, he claimed he desired a move for his family back to London in the UK. Well, you can’t really fault a guy for that after five years in Los Angeles.

Still Involved

Here’s a big point that a lot of people missed. In fact, he wasn’t just dumped by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Instead, he remains involved with the couple’s work. Notably, he serves as a senior philanthropic advisor.

In that role, he continues supporting their humanitarian trips overseas through Archewell Philanthropies. And in 2026, he’s still in the picture, albeit in a different capacity.

The Middle East Trip

Actually, it looks like he definitely seemed involved in their recent Middle East trip. When Holt announced his departure, he mentioned work he’d already done with Harry “helping injured children in Gaza.”

Obviously, that lined up perfectly with their February visit to Jordan, where they met young Palestinian patients getting medical treatment. According to Page Six, the couple flew there at the WHO’s invitation: notably, not in a royal family capacity. Well, James Holt’s ongoing advisory role meant he played a part in shaping how the visit played out.

Staffing Moves Bring Gossip

Royal commentator Neil Sean addressed the situation during his Daily News Headlines vlog on Wednesday night. Mostly, he seemed very critical of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, but cutting through that, he mentioned how staffing moves always cause a stir.

In the opinion of the royal expert, it’s never easy when long-term aides move on, even when it’s for personal reasons like Holt’s family returning home. But, he also had a lot to say about the Middle East trip itself.

Harry Takes A Different Stance

Notably, Sean pointed out the absence of any meeting with Jordan’s King Abdullah. That’s despite the couple being in Amman for two days. According to Sean, that was “glaringly obvious” and a sign the visit lacked the ceremonial welcome they probably hoped for.

Additionally, he mentioned that Prince Harry appeared to be trying to present himself more as a statesmanlike figure on the trip. In other words, he deliberately stepped back from the usual “public displays of affection” with Meghan.

So, Sean suggested Harry finally grasped that the constant hand-holding and touching doesn’t look good for him if he wants to be taken seriously on the world stage.

Are PR Staff Panic Issues?

As you might know, regarding Holt, Radar Online also covered his stepping away. Back in December last year, they ran with the angle that Meghan and Harry appreciated Holt’s time with them, and there didn’t seem to be panic about the staffing change. Still, plenty of bloggers claim there’s panic every time someone departs.

Honestly, it feels like every time someone on their team leaves or changes roles, folks spin it into a huge drama. But really, is it such a big deal? After all, with Holt, a guy decided to go home, but he still advises them on big upcoming trips. Actually, that sounds pretty amicable, if you think about it.
