Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Downsize Staff to Cut Costs

In 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from their position as senior working royals, moved to America, bought a grand mansion in a secure neighborhood, and soon put together a team of people that should help in driving their new ventures forward.

It’s been over five years since then, and the one thing the couple seem to have learned is that they’re going to burn out of cash quickly if they keep their staff as is.

This is coming just a few weeks after several members of their communication team – six to be exact – were let go. Since this happened at the height of the criticism on Meghan Markle’s baby mama dance, many attributed the mass departure to it. But, in light of recent developments, maybe they were just cutting costs?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Cycle Through Staff Quicker Than It Takes Milk To Spoil, Royal Source Blasts

According to Page Six, Harry and Meghan have let go of 25 staff members since stepping down from their position as senior working royals.

“It’s the same old story – they cycle through staff as quickly as normal people cycle through toilet paper. Milk lasts longer than their employees,” one royal source criticized.

This week, Page Six discovered that the couple cut back on their comms team because they’ve made saving money a priority.

2025 also marks the year their contract with Netflix rounds up, and with not much to show for it, Netflix insiders are convinced the streaming giant does not want to renew.

If it, in fact, does renew, it would be under a lesser ‘first look’ deal rather than an overall exclusive contract like before. This would also mean less cash, and since the Sussexes have a heap of expenses, things are not looking very good financial-wise.

Apart from their traveling and wardrobe expenses, their annual security bill is said to be around $2 million. There’s also the annual property tax of $288,000 that they have to see to as well.

In addition to this, they foot the bill for their staff in communications alongside their personal office, the Archewell Foundation, production, as well as employees at their estate in Montecito, CA.

It’s been reported that they join in contributing money to fund their so-called “faux foreign tours,” which last year saw them visit countries like Nigeria and Colombia.

If the Netflix deal does go burst, Meghan Markle’s got her lifestyle brand As Ever, her burgeoning Instagram followers, and a potential memoir to fall back on. On the other hand, Harry still has Travalyst and ‘Spare’ proceeds to keep them going until their next big break.
