Reportedly Disliking The Royal Labels

According to The Sunday Times, which cited a source claiming to be friends with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, “They are not ‘working’ for the institution but they are members of the royal family and they work.”

Allegedly, they also dislike the phrase “working members of the royal family.” The distinction seems to be important to the Sussexes. While Harry might not carry out official royal duties, that doesn’t change the fact that he is the son of King Charles and remains a member of the royal family.

The Palace View

Hello! Magazine reminded readers that a letter issued by the Lord Chamberlain on behalf of King Charles informed senior officials that Harry and Meghan Markle’s position was “akin to private citizens with commercial and charitable interests.”

The outlet also addressed the fact that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently visited Nottingham for charity events. That coincided with King Charles visiting Wales, where he was met by protesters.

Nottingham Welcome Draws Attention

Reportedly, Harry and Meghan received a very warm welcome in Nottingham. However, Hello! noted that the reaction might have been influenced by one of the charities encouraging people to cheer for Harry and Meghan.

The inference seems to be that if they were still working royals, there wouldn’t be a need for someone to rally a group of adults to turn out and give the Duke and his wife a warm welcome.

Questioning The Welcome

The Paula M Channel played a video clip that she claimed the mainstream media ignored. She noted that the first official reports suggested the couple received a warm welcome. However, the clip showed that many of the people lined up to see the Duke and Duchess in Nottingham were actually reporters.

One heckler could be heard yelling, “…You were never royals. You colonized these lands. You are not our royals. You have nothing…”

Paula felt that the media invited to the charity event were biased, saying, “They’re not reporting the heckling. Even though this lady that heckled them and others, there she was not being quiet. It could be heard from everywhere.”

While the main story focuses on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly objecting to terms such as “former royals”and “working members of the royal family,” if what the YouTuber is saying holds any water, they certainly seem to have some friends in the media who aren’t rushing to criticize them.

Viewers React

In the comments section, one viewer wrote, “The MSM love this as it gives them clicks. They are happy to report on Harry and Meghan and also to attack William and especially Catherine. It makes me sick to see this all over the media.”
