Prince Harry did not hold back on the name calling in his book ‘Spare,’ but perhaps the most damaging accusation he made towards his stepmother Queen Camilla is that he and King Charles threw him to the press in the bid to improve their press image.
He may have wanted to deliver a backhanded slap, but an expert is convinced that it hurt his reputation as much as it hurt Camilla’s.
Prince Harry Forced Country To Take Sides With “Incendiary Comments”
At present, Prince Harry refuses to let go of his lawsuit against certain UK newspaper publishers, and he’s ready to drag his family down if it means he comes out victorious. This, of course, has created a sort of controversial image for the 40-year-old.
In a new Channel 4 documentary, a panel of experts dismissed the Prince’s claims that he’s been hacked.
During the discussion, Petronella Wyatt talked about Harry’s rude “wicked stepmother” description and how it spectacularly backfired. She said: “I’m not sure Harry realised how incendiary it was.
he whole country seemed to be taking sides. I don’t think Harry thinks things through. I think it’s his nature just to press the nuclear button.”
“Harry and Camilla’s positions within the Royal Family have virtually reversed. Camilla used to be the hated outcast, now it’s Harry and Camilla’s seen with affection,” she said, adding, “He has to move on from casting Camilla as the wicked stepmother.”
Speaking on on the claims Camilla threw Harry to the press to redeem her image, Andrew Morton and Jennie Bond – both authors of royal biographies – dismissed the idea.
Bond revealed, “I wrote to Camilla once and she wrote back a lovely letter but she said ‘I’m so sorry but I have no interest in cultivating a special relationship with any particular journalist.’”
These days Camilla is earning goodwill by the works she does and the causes she support.
Recently, the Queen appeared in a documentary exploring what it’s like to survive domestic abuse.
One mother who lost her daughter to an abusive partner appeared in the documentary to speak on her pain. In general, the documentary was well-received and Camilla’s desire to shed light on the topic was applauded.
