Prince Harry – Refuses To Take Accountability For Donning Nazi Outfit
Playing the “don’t blame me” game, Prince Harry uses his new memoir to throw shade at his brother Prince William and sister-in-law Kate Middleton. And one part of the Duke of Sussex’s tell-all discusses Harry’s Nazi costume scandal. Insiders told Page Six that Prince Harry thinks the slams directed at him should have gone to William and Kate.
The party in 2005 required guests to dress in costumes. And as he looks back at his Nazi outfit that generated so much controversy, Harry now insists that his brother and sister-in-law deserved the backlash. For instance, the Duke of Sussex claims that William and Kate “howled with laughter” when they viewed him in his costume.
But at 20, Harry faced outrage when a front page photo in the Sun newspaper showed him attired as a Nazi soldier. The Duke of Sussex even put on a red armband emblazoned with a big swastika. Taken at a costume party with a “Native and Colonial” theme, the photo put the focus on Harry as responsible for choosing that controversial costume. But Harry claims Kate and William persuaded him to put it on.
Prince Harry – Claims William And Kate Laughed At His Nazi Costume
In his memoir, Harry recalls debating about what costume to wear. And he couldn’t choose between a pilot outfit or a Nazi costume. So he asked William, who wore a homemade lion outfit at the costume party, for his advice. “I phoned Willy and Kate, asked what they thought. Nazi uniform, they said,” claims the Duke of Sussex in his book.
And he shared that he headed home to show his brother and sister-in-law how he looked. “They both howled. Worse than Willy’s leotard outfit! Way more ridiculous! Which, again, was the point,” wrote the 38-year-old in blaming William and Kate for his selection.
However, a senior publishing insider who read the memoir admitted feeling baffled by Harry’s failure to take ownership of his costume. And the source noted, “It’s strange as you would think that Harry would take ownership of this and just move on and not drag his brother into it.” However, the insider said that the Duke of Sussex “makes it clear that he feels strongly about William’s role in the scandal.”
