Prince Harry Received Greatest Backlash Ever After Accepting War Hero Trophy

At this point, I’m thinking Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have had enough of controversies and backlash that they’re even willing to lean into it. You know, stir the pot, wait for people to react, and let the reaction promote whatever it is you’re doing.

It has frankly worked so far for them, remember their Netflix docuseries ‘Harry And Meghan’ breaking the record for the most watched documentary by the streaming giant?

Hint: in that show, Harry accused his family of leaking stories about him and Meghan did a mock curtsey to the late Queen Elizabeth. The reaction was huge and so was the reward. You know that phrase “no press is bad press?” It couldn’t be more true for the Sussexes.

Royal Commentator Richard Palmer Weighs In On the Latest Backlash Surrounding Harry and Meghan

Earlier this year, Harry was slammed for being named a Living Legends of Aviation at a ceremony in Beverly Hills, joining a list of “remarkable people of extraordinary accomplishment in aviation and aerospace.”

But according to Richard Palmer, it was nothing compared to the one he got for being named a recipient of the ESPY Pat Tilman award – an honour named after an NFL American footballer who abandoned his lucrative playing career to serve in the US Army Rangers in Afghanistan after the 9/11 attacks only to die under friendly fire.

A petition to deny Harry, who served two tours in Afghanistan, the award was set up and gained over 76,000 signatures. Not just that, the mother of Pat Tilman resented the need to hand the award to a privileged and divisive Prince, as she argued that there are better candidates out there.

You know what Harry did, he mentioned her when receiving the award, leading Dan Wootton to call him “shameless.”

In a poll conducted by Newsweek, only 21% of Americans backed giving Harry the award, with 35% strongly against the decision.

With backlash seemingly accompanying the couple every step they make, how do they go on building a sustainable career in the fast-paced world of Hollywood? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
