After months of Royal Family speculations regarding whether the Sussex couple are working with Netflix on a “Kardashian-style” docuseries, Meghan Markle finally confirmed its existence during a cover story interview with Variety in October.
Even though there’s not much known about it at the moment, except rumors that it’ll be a “fly-on-the-wall” series filmed at the couple’s Montecito home, and Meghan describing it as a “documentary”, there are claims that it was originally slated for a December release. Well, not if Harry can help it.
The Duke of Sussex Pushes For Docuseries’ Premiere To Coincide With Memoir Release
On January 10, 2023, fans will get a chance to learn the firsthand account of Prince Harry, one of the most recognizable people of our time. According to a source close to the Sussex couple, Harry is also looking forward to releasing their still unnamed docuseries at around the same time.
The 38-year-old has reportedly been working on the series as part of his lucrative deal with Netflix, but he now wants to delay it until next year. Apparently, it’s the Invictus Games docuseries that morphed into the “at-home docuseries”, which, according to a press release, should give fans a rare glimpse into the lives of the family of four.
Already, the series saw a delay after Netflix faced backlash over the inaccuracies of their historical drama “The Crown”. But now, the couple are keen to push it further back in order to lobby for “extensive cuts” to be made to the footage.
Apart from the docuseries, there are rumors Harry also wants to make changes to “Spare” before it would hit the shelves. However, Omid Scobie, who could be said to have a close relationship with the Sussexes after they contributed information to his biography “Finding Freedom”, reported that no changes were made to the book following the Queen’s death as was reported.
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Want To Take Back Some Of The Things They Did In Upcoming Series
According to a source speaking to The Sun about the series, “Harry simply does not want it coming out before Christmas.”
This is coming after it was said that the couple want to “downplay much of what they have said about King Charles III, Queen Consort Camilla, and the Prince and Princess of Wales.”
Page Six also reported that insiders are of the opinion that Harry and Meghan are having second thoughts about it.
“Harry and Meghan are panicked about trying to tone down even the most basic language. But it’s their story, from their own mouths,” one Netflix source told the website last month.
Another said: “They’ve made significant requests to walk back content they themselves have provided.” According to a source close to the couple, Harry and Meghan started having doubts about all the things they’ve recorded so far for the docuseries following the Queen’s death.
