Prince Harry Says His BBC Interview Wasn’t an Attack on the Royal Family

Prince Harry: My BBC Interview Wasn't an Attack on the Royal Family In early May, Prince Harry received the no doubt shocking news that he’s lost his appeal to regain his round-the-clock taxpayer-funded police protection. It was a blow that hurt the 40-year-old Duke in more ways than one. For one thing, apart from the obvious financial drain losing would have on his bank account, there’s still the issue of security.

If he does not get said security, Harry is convinced bringing his wife and children to the UK will not be an option. However, even in his BBC interview, he refused to accept defeat, instead calling on the UK Prime Minister and other high ranking parties to join him in his crusade to win his security back. That was not all he said during the interview though.

Royal Biographer Wants King Charles and Prince Harry To Reconcile

Immediately Harry’s BBC interview aired, several royal experts focused on how some of his words looked like veiled threats to the royal family. For example, the part where he said that his father King Charles could have helped his security case a lot, not by stepping up, but by keeping out of it.

Obviously, if you read between the lines, you’d understand that Harry means to say that he lost his security case because his father interfered.

However, despite this, royal biographer Valentine Low has chosen to take the high road and understand the 40-year-old’s rantings in ways most of us wouldn’t.

“It wasn’t meant to be an attack, but it would be seen as one,” Low insisted in his People Magazine interview published on Tuesday, June 3. Continuing on, Low called on the King to reach out to his son and make amends. As Harry would say, “life is precious.”

Royal Expert Says It Wouldn’t Do For King Charles To Get Into “A Public Quarrel” With Harry

A separate royal source, Christopher Andersen, believes that there’d be no real advantage to starting a public war with Harry. And let’s be honest, with how things are always going with Harry, it’s bound to become one.

“The King is only hewing to a long-standing royal practice of not dignifying something by commenting on it. The Palace does not want to give oxygen to Harry’s remarks,” Andersen said. “King Charles has a lot on his plate as it is — there is no upside to his getting into a public quarrel with his son.”
