Prince Harry ‘Too Cheap’ For Hotel, Causes Car Chase

Royal family news reveals Prince Harry thought of his mother Princess Diana after his New York City car chase. And the Duke of Sussex claimed that the experience helped him understand the events leading up to Diana’s death. But Harry’s detractors claim that his desire to save money led to his own car chase.

Find out how Prince Harry compared his car chase to his Princess Diana’s tragedy. And learn why some claim the Duke of Sussex caused his own incident. Get all the royal details below.

Prince Harry Compares Princess Diana To Himself

Princess Diana’s death after a car crash with photographers chasing her came to mind for Prince Harry amid his own recent close call. During his visit to New York City, paparazzi allegedly caused the Duke of Sussex to experience a “near catastrophic car chase.”

And the 38-year-old told friends he came the “closest I have ever felt” to understanding what happened on the night Diana died, reported People.

Prince Harry 'Too Cheap' For Hotel, Causes Car Chase

However, the 1997 car crash that took Diana’s life took place in a Paris tunnel. And a decade later, Prince Harry drove through the same tunnel to try to find closure. But the knowledge that photographers chasing his mother’s car resulted in Diana’s death lingers for her son.

And that knowledge seemed clear when a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex described how Prince Harry, Meghan and her mother, Doria Ragland, became involved in a scary incident. The rep claimed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Ms. Ragland experienced “a near catastrophic car chase at the hands of a ring of highly aggressive paparazzi.” And the spokesperson described “a relentless pursuit, lasting over two hours.” As a result of that chase, “multiple near collisions involved other drivers on the road, pedestrians and two NYPD officers,” the spokesperson added.

Paparazzi Make Prince Harry’s Life ‘Challenging’

The Duke of Sussex recognizes that “being a public figure comes with a level of interest from the public,” said his spokesperson. However, the rep added, “It should never come at the cost of anyone’s safety.” And the New York Police Department confirmed that authorities helped Prince Harry and Meghan’s security team. Because the paparazzi made their travels difficult, the police assisted the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s own security.

“The NYPD assisted the private security team protecting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. There were numerous photographers that made their transport challenging,” noted the NYPD’s confirmation. “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived at their destination and there were no reported collisions, summonses, injuries, or arrests in regard.”

However, an insider shared that Prince Harry and Meghan still feel “shaken” after the car chase. “It was a disturbing situation,” pointed out the source. “And they were shaken. But they are glad everyone’s okay.” And the insider blamed photographers for the chase, claiming that paparazzi tried to find out Harry’s and Meghan’s address in NYC.

Prince Harry ‘Too Cheap’ To Avoid Car Chase?

However, insiders told Page Six that the car chase occurred because Harry and Meghan didn’t want to pay full price for a hotel room. And the sources claimed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wanted the Carlyle to provide discounted accommodations for their visit. But that hotel, which ranked as the late Princess Diana’s favorite hotel, wouldn’t give the couple the huge discount they desired.

As a result, Harry and Meghan stayed at a friend’s home on the Upper East Side. However, then the paparazzi started to follow them. And the couple didn’t want to lead photographers back to their friend’s house. But they could have avoided the situation with a hotel room, claimed an insider. “They should have just gotten a hotel for the safety of everyone. Instead, they were cheap and wanted a free place to stay,” added the source.

I have a feeling that at some point, these two may find themselves outcasts on both sides of the pond. And the only thing that’s worse than being an outcast, is being a broke outcast.
Oh, I don’t believe they’ll become homeless, but I see a not too distant future where they’ll both become bitter about essentially not being able to have their cake and eat it too.
I don’t understand them. First they “step down” from their roles in the royal family, but they still want to retain their titles? They’ve really muddied their own water. Shame on them both.
