Prince Harry is reportedly preparing to visit the UK more often, and, of course, that started a debate among readers and commentators over his motivations.

More Regular UK Visits

According to The Times, the Duke of Sussex hopes to see his family again and increase his support for British charities following an “energising” reunion with the King and the end of some of his court battles.

InStyle also wrote about the possible future visits. The outlet noted that Harry reportedly wants to build a firmer “foothold” in Britain through frequent visits over the coming year.

It Follows the Highgrove Meet-up

The news follows the July reunion between King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Archie, and Lilibet at Highgrove House.

Sources cited by InStyle claimed Harry left the meeting feeling “buoyed” and “very happy.”

That reportedly helped open the way for more visits by Prince Harry, including an expected return in September for the WellChild Awards.

Peter Cardwell Weighs In

The news was also discussed on TalkTV on YouTube. The conversation took place on Sunday when host Peter Cardwell discussed the reported visits with former royal butler Grant Harrold.

Harrold did not seem at all surprised by reports that Prince Harry wants to spend more time in the UK.

He noted, “Harry has been communicating with his father. Obviously he’s aware that his father’s been unwell, and I think he’s keen for his grandkids to spend more time with him.”

Harrold was referring to King Charles spending more time with his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet.

Both Harrold and Cardwell agreed that deep trust issues remain, particularly between Prince Harry and Prince William. Harrold also mentioned concerns about private family gatherings possibly being leaked to the press.

Viewers React

While reports suggested the intended trips would be motivated by health concerns and family unity, some viewers did not feel that was all there was to the story.

Several doubted that Prince Harry was particularly worried about his father, especially after his memoir, Spare, and the 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview.

Critical comments from viewers argued that the sudden desire for UK visits stems from financial necessity rather than genuine concern.

One viewer remarked, “No, sorry….your guest is wrong. It’s all about the money and how publicly he and the wife have continued to fail brand after brand. Family, grandfatherism, daddy is unwell is all BS.”

Here are a few more comments from the discussion:

  • “Harry doesn’t care about his father. Prince Harry is broke.”
  • “His Dad might be sick but his Granny and Grandpa were also sick and he didn’t give a damn about them.”

A Polarising Couple

Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, have divided royal family fans for a long time, and that division becomes very clear when the comments are compared with reports from outlets such as The Times and InStyle.

Those reports present the visits as a cautious beginning to rebuilding connections with the family, but many critics believe they are an attempt to rebuild a failing brand.
