Prince Harry’s Christmas Reunion Hopes Crushed, Meghan Markle Wants To Leave UK?

Prince Harry reportedly hoped to remain in Britain for Christmas and reconnect with King Charles. However, Meghan Markle is said to prefer returning to the United States with their children. The couple's reported disagreement could delay another royal family reunion.

FIXED Prince Harry's Christmas Reunion Hopes Crushed, Meghan Markle Wants To Leave UK?Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly departed the UK for the US with their children following the emergence of claims that her father, Thomas Markle, may be a “sex offender” of the “grossest” kind.

The allegation stems from an ongoing investigation in the Philippines. Interior Minister Jonvic Remulla described Markle as a possible offender, while stressing that forensic findings were still pending. Thomas Markle has denied the allegations.

It’s not known how long they plan to stay in the North American nation, but it’s been previously reported that the couple won’t be spending Christmas in the UK. So, until next year then?

Key Takeaways

  • Harry and Meghan have reportedly departed the UK for the US
  • Serious allegations involving Thomas Markle are under investigation
  • Harry reportedly wanted to spend Christmas in Britain
  • The Duke hoped to rebuild his relationship with King Charles
  • Meghan reportedly prefers avoiding an uncomfortable royal Christmas

Prince Harry “Desperately” Wanted To Spend Christmas In The UK

Even before the Thomas Markle allegations switched up the calendar and reportedly drove them back to the US sooner than necessary, it had always been understood that the Sussexes would be traveling back to the US for the holidays.

However, per an insider, Harry isn’t completely sold on the idea and would rather they remained in the UK as they work to rebuild their relationship with the Royal Family.

“Harry had desperately wanted to remain in Britain, believing Christmas offered a rare opportunity to rebuild his relationship with King Charles if his grandchildren could be involved in a visit,” the insider told RadarOnline.

“Harry had been clinging to the idea that Christmas might finally provide the breakthrough he’s been waiting for with the royal family. He imagined being able to spend some proper time with his father, having the children around their grandfather and perhaps starting to put years of bitterness behind them.”

A Sandringham Christmas has been at the forefront of Harry’s mind for some time, to the extent that it might have even fueled his need to make the public plea for reconciliation in GQ Magazine.

As Prince Harry’s latest reconciliation plea continues to make headlines, questions remain about whether he can repair his relationship with his father.

However, if his kids are ever going to enjoy the warm British Christmas traditions that he so often fondly remembers, it doesn’t seem like it will be this year.

Meghan, in particular, doesn’t see any merit in looking forward to it.

“Meghan has a completely different outlook on the situation. As far as she’s concerned, they’ve spent far too long trying to win over people who have made very little effort to welcome them back,” the insider said.

The source added, “She doesn’t want to spend the holidays feeling uncomfortable, wondering whether they’re going to be invited somewhere or worrying about how they’ll be treated if they do turn up.”

As previously reported, Harry and Meghan’s reported Christmas plans have already raised questions about whether the couple will receive a Sandringham invitation.

Meanwhile, King Charles’ reported position on rebuilding his relationship with Harry suggests that family reconciliation may not be as simple as the Duke hopes.

Annemarie’s Take

I can understand why Harry would want to spend Christmas in Britain with his children and King Charles. After returning to the UK, it probably seemed like the perfect opportunity to begin rebuilding those family relationships.

However, I also understand Meghan not wanting to spend the holidays wondering whether they will be invited or welcomed. With the serious allegations involving her father now making headlines, she certainly has enough family drama to deal with.

I do hope Harry and Charles eventually find a way to reconnect. Archie and Lilibet deserve the opportunity to spend time with their grandfather, and it would be a shame if another Christmas passed without any progress.
