Prince Harry’s new memoir is still making headlines. There’s a lot of players that came together to help complete Prince Harry’s “wholly truthful” memoir.
One of those people was ex-Sergeant Major Michael Booley – Harry’s flight instructor from his army days.
In the book, Harry remembered Michael fondly, and even though there was a claim in the book that Michael came forward to publicly say was simply a lie, he recalled the 38-year-old prince fondly as well.
Major Michael – Booley Blames Harry’s Ghostwriter For Dramatizing Accounts
Following the release of “Spare”, several sources came forward to disprove parts of his account, most notably his recollection of his location when his great-grandmother, the Queen Mother, died.
One of those two people challenging his “truths” was ex-Sergeant Major Michael Booley, who taught him how to fly the Firefly in 2009.
After setting the record straight on one of Harry’s account of a “surprise” maneuever he was allegedly subjected to during his army training days, Michael said, “I think the reference to the flying sorties has been dramatised. I think it’s a result of the ghost writing. I never called him Lt Wales, he was an officer, and I called him Sir.”
However, Michael admitted that he still holds Harry high in his regards, even recalling a time when they shared a roast lamb one Sunday afternoon.
Michael added: “He was an exceptional student, very talented indeed. He is a friend and a man I respect immensely who would always have my ear.”
The pair were photographed together in 2009 shortly after Harry’s graduation from the Defence Elementary Flying Training School.
Michael is also not the only former comrade of Harry’s to question his recollections in “Spare”.
Prince Harry’s Former Comrade Challenges His Account Of A “Surprise” On Air Training That Gave Him “Sickening Feeling”.
Another former comrade of Harry’s also debunked his surprise training claims by saying that they were always heavily briefed during each and every exercise.
A former Apache instructor : “All training sorties are briefed to the nth degree so the student is fully aware of what the plan is. In the air is not the time to try and brief somebody on what the plan is.”
He continued: “The briefing will take place on the ground in front of a blackboard. I can only assume the book was written like this for dramatic effect because it’s wrong and no instructor would behave like this.”
