Between running around for the Queen’s weekend celebrations, the Cambridges and the Sussexes did not have time to mix and mingle. Reportedly, they did not even get to meet Lilibet, who celebrated her first birthday that Saturday, even though it’s understood that they were invited to the party.

According to a close source, the intimate garden party was attended by Zara and Mike Tindall and their three children, as well as Peter Philip’s two daughters.

As part of the main players during the Jubilee event, the Cambridges were almost on their toes during the entire four-day weekend, which featured their three children.

But apart from William working to meet up with prior engagements, a source has also claimed that William kept his distance in order to not have Harry gossip about him and his family to the press.

A source told the U.S. media outlet Page Six that tensions is “still fraught” between both brothers. “William is still wary of spending any time alone with Harry as you never quite know what may be reported back afterwards.”

However, it’s been claimed that the Cambridges sent little Lilibet a present to celebrate her first year on Earth. Along with the present, the Cambridges, alongside the Queen, Prince Charles and Camilla wished the toddler a happy birthday.

The intimate garden picnic was reportedly “casual” and “laid-back”. Speaking to The Sun about the party, a source said: “It was a lovely do and had everything you’d expect from a child’s birthday party.”

“The idea was for it to be very relaxed and casual, with people free to pop in and out as they wished.”

East London baker Clare Ptak – who created the couple’s wedding cake back in 2018 – created delightful treats for the low-key affair.

Tom Bower opined: “Meghan must have been furious when she heard that photographs of their Windsor meeting were forbidden. Banned from the balcony for Trooping the Colour, no shot of her with the Queen in St Paul’s and then the final blow was no shot of Lilibet with her great-grandmother. Finally, the Palace is playing a good hand”.

He added: “ ‘The Sussexes’ contract with Netflix is in jeopardy. The veto of photos will fuel the Sussexes’ resentment. Harry’s reprisal could be more revelations in his book billed to be published later this year. This is a dangerous game for both sides”.
