Prince William and Kate Middleton Compete In King’s Cup Regatta

Just because she’s the future Queen of England, that doesn’t mean she gets to win every race that she enters. As a matter of fact, reports indicate that Kate Middleton’s boat was disqualified in a sailing regatta around the Isle of Wight this week. Here’s what you need to know.

Kate’s Sailing Day

According to reports, the Duchess of Cambridge’s boat was disqualified in The King’s Cup Regatta. Both Prince William and Kate Middleton were on hand for the event, which kicked off one day early because of the weather forecast. Apparently, the Duchess of Cambridge’s boat was disqualified after it started the race too early. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a very good race for Kate Middleton altogether as during the first race her boat finished in 7thplace out of eight boats. Her husband Prince William’s boat faired slightly better by coming in at third place.

The Duchess In Her Element

With that said, it doesn’t look like the cloudy weather or the boat races tampered William and Kate’s day at all. Their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte were both on hand to cheer on their parents and according to a lot of royal observers, the Duchess looked like she was in her element. Wearing her hair pulled back in a pony tail and showing off her toned legs in a pair of shorts, the 37-year-old was all smiles for the event. The Duke of Cambridge was also in a similar outfit but all eyes were on Kate Middleton, who looked like she was having a blast throughout the entire day.

Prince William and Kate Middleton are both a patron of the eight charities that were at the regatta. They included: The Royal Foundation, Child Bereavement UK, the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families, Tusk, Action on Addiction, Place2Be, Centrepoint, and London’s Air Ambulance Charity 30th Anniversary Campaign, Tusk.

The Cambridges also shared a photo from the event on their Instagram account and captioned it with, “Their Royal Highnesses hope that The King’s Cup will become an annual event, bringing greater awareness to the wider benefits of sport, whilst also raising support and funds for the causes that The Duke and Duchess support.”
