Prince William is being called out for attending a soccer game after snubbing The Lionesses. As many fans can recall, the Prince of Wales refused to travel to Australia to attend the Women’s World Cup, even though Team England was in the final. Here’s what you need to know.

Back in August, Prince William was highly criticized for not supporting women in sports. Even Piers Morgan, who is one of Prince William’s staunchest defenders, did slightly criticize him for not traveling to Australia to support the Lionesses in their World Cup final.

After the Prince of Wales wrote on Twitter, “What a phenomenal performance from the @Lionesses – on to the final! Commiserations to @TheMatildas, you’ve played brilliantly and been fantastic co-hosts of this World Cup,” Piers promptly replied with, “Get on a plane to Australia asap, YRH – you would if the men’s team reached a World Cup Final… so why not for the women?”

If that weren’t enough, Prince William never even met with the team or celebrated their second place finish when they returned to the UK. But yet he did find the time to attend an Aston Villa game this past week.

Is Prince William Being A Hypocrite

It goes without saying that many royal fans and critics alike had a lot to say about the matter on social media.

Some commented with, “Completely unsubstantiated, but I saw on twitter that the Lionesses were refusing to meet with him. it would make sense, the complete lack of an event together is pretty notable.

Anyway its clear that William just did not want to go to the Women’s World Cup final. If he had wanted to have been there, he would have gone,” along with, “He needs to be fired from the Football Association. They need a president who will show up & put in the work.”

And then there was this comment as well: “I don’t think he got enough flack for refusing to show up for the Lionesses. He showed complete disregard for them, has to this day done nothing besides a hastily thrown together video of support and to then turn around and show up at an AV game? Just blatant lack of respect, wow.”
