Harry and Meghan’s spokesperson confirmed that the couple will be attending the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with their children minutes after Buckingham Palace disclosed that the pair won’t appear on the balcony with the rest of the Royal Family.
Sources Fear the Sussexes Will Try to Steal the Limelight During the Queen’s Once-in-a-lifetime Jubilee
Insiders say Prince William is on his guard to keep Harry and his wife from exploiting their relations to the Royal Family to further their fame.
The Oprah interview widened the Sussexes’ rift with the royal family, and guessing from successive interviews that followed, all is not yet water under the bridge.
Harry revealed that he’s willing to talk things out with his brother, but only if there’s a middleman involved. William is also looking forward to mending his relationship with his younger brother, but Harry has been known to be open to the media in recent times and William fears how much he could disclose, especially with a memoir coming up.
A source said: “William wants to talk to Harry to try to heal the rift between them but he’s fearful it will find its way on to Netflix, Oprah or into Harry’s upcoming book.”
While the Sussexes won’t be greeting the crowd with the Queen and senior working royals at the balcony, they’ll still be guaranteed global coverage and will be a part of some of the planned events.
Royal biographer Tom Bower said: “William will worry that Harry and Meghan will pull a stunt to try to get the limelight.
“Kate and William would be foolish not to be suspicious and would be unwise not to be cautious.”
Harry and Meghan are also filming a documentary for Netflix, though Palace spokespersons have warned the couple that Netflix cameras are not welcome within Palace walls.
