Prince William Launches Groundbreaking Anti-Bullying App

Prince William

Prince William is taking matters into his own hands. Seeing what kind of epidemic this has become – both online and off – the future King of England has just launched a groundbreaking new app against cyberbullying. Here’s what you need to know.

All About Prince William’s New Anti-Cyberbullying App – Own It

According to People Magazine, the BBC has launched a new app with the help of Prince William’s Cyberbullying Taskforce. Called Own It app, it will recognize if a child or a user is typing something that could be upsetting to the person receiving it. The app also reminds users to rethink what they are about to send. What’s more, it can also identify works and language that suggests a child is in trouble while also offering advice and encouraging them to speak with a trusted adult about it.

The app will have a special keyboard that allows users to record how they are feeling. It will also offer support and give advice if it suspects that they behavior is raising any red flags. If that weren’t enough, Own It will also focus on promoting a health amount of screen time. More and more parents are becoming concerned with the amount of screen time that their children have each day. As a matter of fact, many kids are spending more time indoors in front of their electronic devices rather than outdoors playing with their friends.

A Safe Space For Kids Who Don’t Want To Feel Like They Are Being Monitored

However, there’s one part of the app that might come off as a little controversial. That’s because the child’s phone activity is not shared with parents. Instead, the app wants to provide a safe space for kids who don’t want to feel like they are being monitored by their parents all the time.

“It is fantastic the BBC has launched an app which will provide support to young people as they navigate the online world,” William, 37, said in a statement. “I am delighted to see this positive and practical outcome resulting from The Royal Foundation Taskforce on the Prevention of Cyberbullying.”

It’s also been noted that the Own It app has been developed with input and support from many of the organizations and individuals that helped come up with Prince William’s Cyberbullying Taskforce.
