The Prince of Wales, who serves as the president of BAFTA, made this revelation while meeting with recipients of the Prince William BAFTA Bursary fund, which offers financial assistance to young individuals from underrepresented backgrounds pursuing careers in film, television, and gaming.
One student mentioned using the grant money to cover driving lessons needed for traveling to film auditions and shoots. In response to a question about how many times he had taken his driving test, Prince William, 42, said, “Thankfully, I passed first time.”
Prince William – Co-hosting With The Royal African Society And Speaking About Family
This engaging moment was not the only highlight of Prince William’s day at BAFTA. Co-hosting the event with the Royal African Society, he emphasized the vital role of young people in the creative industries. He also reflected on his experiences as a father of three: Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, whom he shares with Kate Middleton, 42.
While conversing with Erik Scott, a student at the National Film and TV School and committee member for the upcoming Film Africa festival, Prince William humorously noted that his children are “always wrestling over the remote,” a testament to the vast array of available screen content today, as reported by Hello! magazine.
He further acknowledged the challenges of managing screen time for George, Charlotte, and Louis, explaining that they are “trying to regulate” the amount of time spent in front of screens, particularly because Prince George enjoys gaming.
Regarding his younger children, William commented that while they are “a bit too small at the moment,” they do enjoy watching films.
Discussing An Interest For Another Installment In The Bourne Franchise
Additionally, Prince William seized the opportunity during the October 9 event to express his enthusiasm for another installment in the Bourne franchise, addressing director Paul Greengrass, who directed three of the series’ films.
According to the Independent, William playfully suggested, “Another Bourne, another Bourne,” though the Times noted that Greengrass responded with a laugh and a shake of his head.
At a previous engagement on October 3 at the newly reopened Birtley Community Pool, Prince William mentioned that his family closely followed Team Great Britain during the 2024 Paris Olympics. “We watched the whole thing,” he shared. “We were glued to it every day.”
In his speech at the BAFTA, Prince William remarked, “The screen arts are such an important part of the fabric of our lives, allowing different voices and perspectives to be accessed and enjoyed in the comfort of our own homes.” He added, “As president of BAFTA, I am very proud to be involved with an organization that is dedicated to breaking down barriers for the storytellers of the future…I look forward to following your careers and seeing you become nominees and winners of BAFTA Awards in years to come!”
