Prince William Saved This Teenager’s Life And He’s Beyond Grateful

What day is it? It’s the start of AAW2022, and to mark the day, the Royal Family released a list of Air Ambulances across the UK that’s supported by members of the Royal Family. Together, these organizations fly thousands of times to provide immediate aid to extreme emergency situations.

The Duchess of Cornwall is the patron of the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust and Wiltshire Air Ambulance. The Duke of Cambridge, as patron of London’s Air Ambulance Charity, raised a million pounds earlier this year for the charity, which will go towards buying new equipment and flying more missions.

The Princess Royal is the patron of Magpas Air Ambulance, and Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, is the patron of Thames Valley Air Ambulance.

As we commemorate these charities in the coming days, we could take a trip down memory lane to the time when the Duke of Cambridge served as an helicopter pilot.

On Monday, April 25, the Duke of Cambridge attended a gala meeting organized by London’s Air Ambulance Charity.

At the event, held at The Londoner Hotel in Leicester square, 15-year-old Bruno Machado told an inspirational story of how the London Air Ambulance saved him in the nick of time.

But perhaps, for the Duke of Cambridge, being on the same space as a severely injured teen who died twice is an experience that’ll stay with him forever.

It was a miracle that when paramedics brought the crushed body of Jack Beeton, then 17, into hospital, he survived, even against the fears of the doctors.

The teenager has already died twice in the air ambulance in the aftermath of a horrific car crash in October 2015, after which Prince William was able to revive him whilst serving with the helicopter crew.

Jack was rescued from a car accident that had claimed the life of his uncle. They were in his uncle Phillip’s Citreon van when it was hit head-on by a 20-tonne tipper truck on the A10 near Chittering. His list of injuries was extensive, including a leg broken in four places, a shattered elbow, cracked pelvis, smashed jaw, collapsed lungs and bruised heart.

Jack’s memory of the accident was hazy and he barely remembered anything about the crash, however, his family and the East Anglia Air Ambulance team filled him in on the details.

Prince William’s “Most Daunting” Mission As A Helicopter Pilot

Prince William served as a helicopter pilot for two years, and at the end of it, he still remembers the A10 rescue as one of the most “daunting” experiences he faced in the field.

“Another rescue that sticks in my mind was to a young man who was involved in a road accident,” he said in a letter to colleagues.

“His uncle in the car with him sadly didn’t survive, and I was sure that from what we were faced with he wouldn’t either – but thanks to the skills of our medical team he is alive today.

“We were first on scene and in such circumstances we all had to pitch in to fight to save the young man’s life. It is days like this, when you know you have made a difference, that give you the determination to keep going.”

David, Jack’s father, said: “They called Prince William over. He was the one giving him the air. He’s the one who kept him alive.

“You can’t really say much more than than if they weren’t as good as what they are I wouldn’t have made it,” added Jack.
