Prince William Says He Wouldn’t Mind If His Children Were Gay

Prince William Says He Wouldn’t Mind If His Children Were GayPrince William says that his children are free to love whoever they want to love later on in their lives. As a matter of fact, the future King of England says that he would have no reservations should one of his children come out as gay. The Duke of Cambridge shares three kids with Kate Middleton: Prince George, 5, Princess Charlotte, 4, and 1-year-old Prince Louis.

And while William says that he would fully support his children and their lifestyle choices, he did admit that he would worry about some of the pressures and the stress they would face. He said that it’s even a conversation that he had with the Duchess of Cambridge in the past. Prince William made his comments during the Albert Kennedy Trust (AKT) your charity in London.

However, while Prince William made it clear that he would back whatever decisions his children made, that didn’t mean he wouldn’t worry or express concern about them. He said, It does worry me from a parent point of view. How many barriers you know, hateful words, persecution, all that and discrimination that might come, that’s the bit that really troubles me. But that’s for all of us to try and help correct and make sure we can put that to the past and not come back to that sort of stuff.”

BBC News correspondent Ben Hunte says that for the future King of England to admit that he would support his gay children is a huge moment for LGBT people from around the world. This is especially important, especially when the visibility of LGBT community members is being questioned on both sides of the pond.

Hunt wrote, “With the Duke of Cambridge being a figurehead for the Royal Family as well as the Commonwealth, it is also worth remembering that homosexual activity is still a criminal offence in 35 of the 53 Commonwealth nations – and it is only legal in 18.Many will now be wondering whether Prince William’s words could have a positive impact on these places, where people are still fighting for their lives because of who they love.”
