Earlier this week, it was announced that King Charles has been diagnosed with cancer. Sources close to the royal family also revealed that Prince Harry was one of the first to know about the diagnosis, despite the family rift.
Yesterday, he landed in the UK and had a short audience with his father. The one person who did not see Harry regardless of the duration of his stay is his elder brother Prince William. Can you blame William not wanting to see him?
Prince William Returns To Public Duties Amid His Refusal To See Harry
After stepping back from royal duties on Jan. 11, the Prince made a grand return on Wednesday, Feb. 7, amid his wife’s positive recovery and his father’s cancer diagnosis.
Earlier in the day, he carried out an investiture at Windsor Castle, and in the evening, he attended a gala for the London Air Ambulance, who he’s been linked to since his air pilot days.
While William is determined to stay away from Harry, a source close to the Duke revealed that it is Harry’s plan to reconnect with his brother: “The Duke’s primary reason to travel to the UK is to visit his father. If the opportunity were to arise to see the Prince of Wales then the Duke would have gladly accepted it.”
It is understood that Harry was personally informed of the diagnosis by the King himself, who made it a duty to call his sons and siblings and tell them of the sad news. Harry was then told to delay his visit until Buckingham Palace revealed the news on Monday evening.
A source close to William said: “The prince’s main focus is for his wife, who is recovering from surgery, his three children and now his father. There are no plans for Harry’s visit to act as some kind of vehicle for reconciliation.”
This statement was probably put out to quieten the so-called royal experts, who believe that King Charles’ condition could be a catalyst for the boys to unite once more.
