Princess Aiko Of Japan Makes Her First Royal Outing

Princess Aiko Of JapanThe royal news and updates reveal that Princess Aiko of Japan makes her royal debut after her cousin the former Princess Mako gave up her royal status to marry a commoner.

Princess Aiko is the daughter of Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako. She made her first royal outing when she joined her parents and other family members as they celebrated the New Year at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo last January 1.

She donned a white gown and white gloves along with a pearl necklace as well as a yellow and red sash. They all followed basic health protocols by wearing face masks and social distancing.

Her appearance marked her first outing after she started taking on royal responsibilities. She recently celebrated her 20th birthday last December 1, 2021. She wore a glittering tiara during her coming of age celebration at the palace.

Given that she’s the only child of Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako and only men are allowed to ascend to the throne, Crown Prince Fumihito Akishino is the one who’s next in line and followed by Prince Hisahito.

The parents of the former Princess Mako, Crown Prince Fumihito Akishino and his wife Princess Kiko, also attended the celebration.

Princess Mako Turns Back On Royal Life To Marry A Commoner

Mako met her husband, Kei Komuro at a study-abroad event that was held at a restaurant in Shibuya. At that time, they were both students at the International Christian University.

In an interview with The Telegraph, she shared that she was attracted to Komuro’s smile. The couple announced their plans to tie the knot in September 2017. But the wedding was pushed to a later date because of financial disputes between Komuro’s mother and her former fiancé.

Mako, gave up her royal title to marry Kei Komuro. They had a subdued ceremony last October 2021. When she lost her royal title, the Japanese government offered her a $1.3 million payout, which she turned down.

Princess Mako Moves To New York

A few weeks after their wedding, Mako and Komuro moved to New York City. The latter graduated from Fordham University law school and now works at a law firm. However, reports say that he failed to pass the bar exams but he plans to take them again.

The couple has been spotted wearing casual clothes in New York City doing regular activities such as running errands and going for walks.
