While many members of the royal family have competed in many different sports, only one has actually completed the marathon, and she helped set a world record without not breaking a sweat.

The London Marathon is the ultimate test of endurance in sportsmen and women, with the goal being to complete the 26-mile stretch in the fastest possible time.

We know several sporty royals that can actually take part in the famous marathon- I mean, are we all thinking about the Duchess of Cambridge or what? – but surprisingly, there’s been only one who actually finished the route. She didn’t only make her mom proud, but she set a record too. It’s what I call a good solid teamwork.

Princess Beatrice was one of 34 runners who were joined together to form a human caterpillar and ran the entire course tied to each other.

Her team members included her then-boyfriend Dave Clarke and close friends Sam and Holly Branson.

For the race, Beatrice and the rest of her team wore bright green and black colors. The ladies of the team donned fluorescent tutus and sweatbands and Beatrice was pictured rejoicing with her medal after crossing the finish line.

Beatrice didn’t only walk home that day with the title of the only royal to finish the London Marathon, her team earned the impressive record for being the most people to finish a marathon whilst being tied together.

Currently, Princess Beatrice is chilling at home as a new mom with her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and their two-week old daughter Sienna.

Why Sporty Kate Middleton Can’t Compete In The Marathon

Over the years, we’ve seen the Duchess take part in a number of sports, including abseiling and Gaelic football. Recently, she rocked a mini-skirt to play tennis with English champion Emma Raducanu and could even impressively keep up.

But one sport she can’t take part in is the marathon. Not necessarily for lack of enthusiasm on Kate’s part, we’re talking security.

Journalist Bryony Gordon, who has completed the famous long-distance run, shared that she met Kate and asked her if she ever considered taking part in the sports.

Bryony told Runner’s World: “I can’t remember exactly what happened, but I was like, ‘Are you going to run the marathon?’ “

“And she was like, ‘Oh I can’t because security is a bit difficult.’ But I was like, ‘Sure, yeah, yeah, good excuse. If I can do it, anyone can.'”

Despite not being able to take part, Kate attended the 2017 London Marathon when her mental health cause “Heads Together” came out as one of the top charities for that year’s event.
