A major dilemma allegedly unfolds behind the scenes of the royal family’s Christmas plans and Princess Catherine sits in the middle of it all. It arises as her popular annual carol service looms, and the increasingly problematic placement of Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice within the Firm. Read on to find out more.
The Concert Is A Passion Project
The predicament, as per royal commentator Neil Sean, is a big problem for the Princess of Wales. On Tuesday night, he discussed it during his Daily News Headlines vlog. Most royal family fans are familiar with the carol service, and it’s one of her “passion projects.”
Because of that, she rarely leaves all the work to other people. Perhaps “hands-on” is the best way to describe her attitude. It’s not only Kate Middleton who enjoys it, but it’s also an opportunity for all the senior royals to show a united front.
Eugenie & Beatrice Make Complications

Right now, the situation with Eugenie and Beatrice’s parents, the Duke and Duchess of York, creates a complication. So much scandal surrounds them currently, that whether the princesses should attend must be considered. Unfortunately, it’s not a complication that can be easily avoided.
If Princess Catherine extends an invitation to the York princesses, their presence will inevitably redirect press attention. Instead of focusing on the festive spirit, all eyes will shift to Eugenie and Beatrice. Of course, that only likely reminds folks of the “disgrace” again.
Catherine Could Be Slammed Either Way
Naturally, that sort of distraction would undermine the purpose of the evening. Conversely, if they’re not invited, Catherine faces being portrayed as “miss nasty,” a narrative that could damage her reputation during a season focused on goodwill.
According to Sean’s sources, behind the scenes, insiders apparently scramble for a solution. One proposed compromise involves inviting the sisters but having them make a “low-key entrance perhaps in a side door of the abbey.”

Nonetheless, Sean believes that strategy seems deeply flawed. He argued, “you can’t really do that because some camera somebody somewhere is going to point them out.” Essentially, any attempt to hide their attendance would likely fail and might even generate more curiosity.
Prince William’s Take On It
As for Prince William’s views, Sean believes that the Prince of Wales sees the situation as “very much more cut and dry.” Allegedly, William believes it would simply “be better if the princesses stayed away” to avoid any fuss or negative press.
The whole drama only highlights the immense pressure on the family as they deal with the Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson crisis. Right now, even the simple choice of selecting who should be invited presents a quandary related to a much bigger issue.
Harry & Meghan Are Amused?
Going forward, of course, every public appearance by Eugenie and Beatrice probably forces the monarchy to confront the actions of their parents.
While it seems like a problem, Sean wondered if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle feel much sympathy for Princess Catherine as she juggles the world of PR. In fact, in the opinion of the royal commentator, they might feel a bit amused as they enjoy the drama from afar.
Royal Family Fans React
In the comments section of the vlog, one viewer opined, “William is smart not to trust Beatrice and Eugenie.”
Here are a few more responses from the discussion area:
- Don’t invite them. Who cares… the majority would cheer.
- I don’t think there is anyone with an ounce of common sense that would criticize the RF this year for not extending “the spirit of Christmas” to the Yorks.
- Princess Eugenie does not deserve any courtesy from Princess Catherine. There are many instances where Eugenie has been rude to Catherine.
