British royal family news reveals that 2024 began on a serious note for the British Royal Family when both King Charles and Princess Catherine were diagnosed with cancer. Kate has finished treatment and Charles continues to receive treatment.
It’s understandable then that collectively the clan are looking forward to happier days. To this end we’re hearing that the Wales family is planning a well-deserved Christmas celebration. Here’s what we know so far.
Princess Catherine is Out of the Woods
The royals are big on traditions and customs with Christmas a time for tried and true festivities.
This year the family’s celebration may be a bit different according to the Daily Beast: “William and Kate are expected to host a ‘rival Christmas party’ at their home on the Sandringham estate, Anmer Hall, with Kate’s family including her parents, Mike and Carole, in attendance.”
Royal Family News – The Royals’ Christmas Traditions
In the past the royals have thrown formal Christmas parties with regal Queen Elizabeth presiding. This year Kate Middleton’s celebration “will be notable for its studied informality.”
And what of King Charles, the reigning monarch who paused treatments while on a whirlwind tour of Australia this month? Sources suggest that the Royal Family “are waiting to see how Charles’ health holds up in the coming months before making plans.”
Royal Family News – King Charles Receiving Cancer Treatment
At least one source told the Daily Beast that a friend of Prince Andrew thinks that the Christmas festivities will be low-key this year compared to year’s past. They claim that by this point in time the royal calendar would be set, but this year “it’s just wait and see.”
It is thought that the family’s annual Boxing Day hunt is on, but Prince William will preside, taking over the role of hunt leader from his father.
Royal Family News – How Will The Wales Family Celebrate Christmas?
The source thinks that unlike in years past, Kate and William will share private moments from their family Christmas on social media. The source said “A little social media of the family eating chocolate and watching TV would be a very effective way of showing how normal Christmas is at Anmer Hall compared to what we hear about at Sandringham.”
Another source confirmed this assessment saying that there will be “more messaging this year… of a ‘middle class flavor,’ emphasizing eating chocolate, movie marathons, and generally sliding off the couch in a tryptophan haze like everyone else.” That sounds heavenly, what do you think?
