Princess Mette-Marit’s Troubled Son Again Arrested On Heinous Charge

British royal family news divulges that the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, Marius Borg Høiby, was arrested on suspicion of rape on Monday, Nov. 18.

The princess entered the royal family via her marriage to Crown Prince Haakon. Her 27-year-old is the princess’s son from a previous marriage and is not of royal blood.

In a press release shared on Tuesday, Nov. 19 the Oslo Police District reported that Høiby was “arrested on suspicion of violating the criminal code which concerns sexual intercourse with someone who is unconscious or for other reasons unable to resist the act.”

According to People “Police have said … about the rape … it concerns a sexual act without intercourse. The victim is said to have been unable to resist the act.”

Høiby is now being detained in Greenland. His latest arrest follows an arrest in August, and another in September, the former concerning “an alleged incident involving a woman in her 20s.”
The Norwegian news outlet Se og Hør reported that Høiby allegedly attacked the victim “psychologically and physically” and she required hospital treatment for a concussion.

Royal Family News – Marius Borg Høiby Arrested Again

In the August incident Høiby was held for 30 hours before being released, and he was again arrested in September “for allegedly violating a restraining order.”

The police’s report from Høiby’s latest arrest indicates that he was with the alleged victim from the August incident: “The charge relates to another violation of a restraining order against the same victim.” At that time he was also charged for driving without a valid driver’s license.

Despite his mother’s royal status, Høiby doesn’t have a public role nor is he in the line of succession to the Norwegian throne.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit announced in 2017 that her son “has always had a role that has been difficult to define in the public sphere. He is and will be an exceptionally important part of our family.”

Her statement went on to say that her son is a “symbol of the unusual choice we made when we got married … he will not carry public duties like his siblings.”
