British royal family news reveals that the world was stunned to hear Catherine, Princess of Wales announce to the world in March 2024 that she was undergoing preventative cancer treatment. In September she revealed the good news, that she was done with treatment and cancer free.
Since then she has gradually been upping her official royal duties, including in person appearances. Last year she surprised some by holding her annual Christmas concert and as we see more and more of the popular royal, there is the concern that she could overdo her reintegration back into the public eye.
Here’s the warning one psychologist has for Kate, one of the most famous people in the world, as far as pushing too hard to resume royal life.
One Psychologist’s Warning to Kate Middleton
Sula Windgassen is known as The Health Psychologist and she’s spoken about Kate’s schedule and how the mom of three should leave plenty of time for herself. Sula says that prioritizing her self-care at this time is crucial for Kate’s overall recovery.
According to her “When we see women we admire prioritizing self-care, that can be very powerful inspiration to do the same ourselves.”
Kate herself noted that her path to “healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes.”
Kate Middleton’s Self-Care Is Key
It seems as if Catherine, Princess of Kate is well aware of the need to not overdo it, but Sula notes “It is hard to counterbalance the weight of expectation and speculation.” Kate is one of the busiest people in the world in addition to being a role model for millions, not to mention her young family.
Not only is her psychological routine of primary importance, Kate also needs to be mindful of the toll that cancer took on her body.
Sula adds that cancer treatment exacts a great toll on the body, with the immune system disrupted: “In order to help come back to an equilibrium during the healing process, you have to gently reintegrate into life as usual.”
Kate said she used hypnobirthing when she gave birth to all three of her kids, a technique that uses affirmations, visualization, and deep breathing to helps manage pain.
Kate Middleton’s Road to Recovery
Luckily Kate is already in great shape and no doubt will continue to mind her body’s cues. She is one of the more athletic royals, but there is room for other strategies as well. Sula mentions that “other types of self-care, like meditation, is so important.”
According to the expert, meeting social obligations should be balanced with the need for stillness and reflection, wise words for all of us to heed.
