Royal family experts have noted power shifts among the royals. For instance, early in Charles’ marriage to Camilla Parker Bowles, some wondered if Camilla would ever earn the title of Queen. But as invitations to King Charles’ coronation reveal, that change just occurred.

Camilla Parker Bowles Reflects Royal Power Shift

Who holds the power in the royal family? The answer today appears dramatically different than less than a year ago. And that shift results from the death of Queen Elizabeth on September 8. But though her 70 years on the throne remain her legacy, the royal family has moved on, pointed out Vogue.

And now Camilla Parker Bowles reflects the new royal power order. Initially, Camilla faced questions about if she would earn the title of Queen because of respect for the late Princess Diana.

However, Queen Elizabeth made a statement that impacted Camilla before her passing. “My sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service,” revealed the Queen. 

And Camilla has also worked to earn her new title. The British public gradually has shifted in their view of King Charles’ wife. And the coronation invitations reflect that change. As the invites reveal, she has taken off the “consort” part of her title. And the invitations refer to King Charles and Queen Camilla. 

Kate Middleton Praised For ‘Discretion And Glamour’

And recent polls reveal that Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, has also become more popular. Along with her husband Prince William, the couple ranks as the best-liked royal family members. For instance, the Prince of Wales enjoys an approval rating of 72 percent. And Princess Kate earned a 70 percent approval rating.

Sally Bedell Smith, author of Elizabeth The Queen, praised Kate as “this wonderful combination of modesty, discretion, and glamour.” And with her increasingly public presence, Kate has taken on new roles in the royal family. For example, she created Shaping Us. This campaign hopes to raise awareness about early childhood development.

But while Kate and William fulfill their royal duties, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle seek ways to hold onto their own spotlight. For instance, the couple starred in their Netflix documentary Harry and Meghan. And Harry’s memoir Spare continues to attract attention.

However, King Charles’ coronation could reveal exactly how the royal family views Harry and Meghan. And the festivities on May 6 should offer a chance for some sort of reunion. But Harry and Meghan reportedly have made demands about their presence that King Charles may choose to ignore.
