Royal family news and updates reveal that Queen Camilla tries to hide her awkward feelings when she encounters children. And an expert claims Camilla’s body language reveals her desire to avoid even most of her grandchildren. But there is one young exception.
Learn about a new report that analyzes Queen Camilla’s reaction to most small children. And discover which grandchild enjoys a surprisingly sweet bond with the Queen. Get all the details below.
Queen Camilla Feels ‘Awkward’ Around Kids
King Charles feels more comfortable with small children than Queen Camilla, according to a new report. And even though she tries, Camilla can’t seem to relax around most little kids.
But body language expert Judi James found one exception. And James also shared that Camilla becomes a changed woman when she spends time with this very special grandchild, according to Woman & Home magazine.
Because Queen Camilla has numerous grandchildren, her typically “awkward” mannerisms around children do stand out, noted James. And the body language expert observed the Queen seeming extremely uncomfortable with the smallest children. However, one grandchild, Princess Charlotte, has made a difference.
And when Camilla spends time with Charlotte, the Queen actually “thrives,” according to James. Because Charlotte helps her step-grandmother to relax, the two have formed a very special bond. And Charlotte’s self-confident personality even eases Camilla’s anxiety.
Princess Charlotte Blossoms With Confidence
As a result of her body language expertise, Judi James observed Camilla looking “awkward and wary when she is meeting small children at royal events. And even her own grandchildren have been photographed playing and being tactile with Charles rather than her,” she added. But the Queen enjoys a different relationship with Kate Middleton and Prince William’s trio of kids.
“The relationship with Camilla and William and Kate’s children is depicted as warm and inclusive though,” noted James. And Camilla seemed “chatty and relatively relaxed with George, Charlotte and Louis as they rode together in the carriage at the Trooping of the Colour.” However, James has observed that Princess Charlotte, age 8, helps Camilla the most.

And the body language expert shared, “One of her royal grandchildren Camilla does seem to be shown bonding with in most of the public appearances. That is the rather confident and protocol-aware Charlotte.” And even if Camilla chides Charlotte for misbehaving, the 8-year-old doesn’t seem to mind. For instance, James noticed Charlotte and Camilla enjoying their bond at the Jubilee celebrations.
Queen Camilla Relaxes Around Charlotte
“There was something wonderfully spontaneous about the way Charlotte happily peered into Camilla’s handbag in the carriage,” observed the body language expert. That suggests “an uninhibited relationship with her grandmother.” And James praised Charlotte for her “ability to break the ice without being naughty.” As a result, Camilla can “relax a little at public events,” added James.
And even when the Queen appears to show “signs of anxiety or nervousness,” Charlotte can ease her grandmother’s stress. “Unlike Louis, Charlotte doesn’t set out to entertain or to make her granny laugh,” noted James. “But she does bring a touch of natural affection or curiosity that brings out a mirrored response from Camilla.”
