Queen Camilla Originally Didn’t Want King Charles To Share His Health Updates With the Public

Queen Camilla Originally Didn't Want King Charles To Share His Health Updates With the PublicIn early February, King Charles’ spokesperson officially announced that the monarch has been diagnosed with cancer. This happened shortly after he shared that he was getting a surgery for a benign prostate tumor. At the time, it was acknowledged that the reason he was being so open about his enlarged prostate was to make the public aware of the condition.

However, according to a royal expert, Queen Camilla wasn’t onboard with the whole sharing the health thing with the public. Here’s why.

King Charles – Overruled Queen Camilla’s Advise Not To Talk About His Prostate

According to Robert Jobson, Queen Camilla was initially not a fan of the King being so open about his health and advised him against “disclosing his condition.”

The King, in his own views, felt that sharing the information with the public will serve to open communication about the condition, and therefore lead many people his age to get tested.

“The King overruled her,” Jobson told UK’s The Independent during an interview promoting his latest book, ‘Catherine, Princess of Wales.’ “He felt it was a chance to take a lead and in doing so to encourage men experiencing similar symptoms to seek timely medical attention.”

Happily, the King, 75, achieved his goal and a significantly higher number of people started to educate themselves about the condition.

“He was lauded for doing so, with commentators saying he had ushered in a new era of transparency in matters of health and the royal family,” Jobson shared, noting there was “a significant increase in searches related to enlarged prostate,” per the National Health Service.

Nearly a month after the King opened up about his prostate, Buckingham Palace announced his cancer diagnosis.

“During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted,” a February statement from Buckingham Palace read. “Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.”

The Palace further revealed that Charles had already begun to undergo “regular treatments” after taking a step back from his public duties.

“His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer,” the statement concluded.
