British royal family news reveals that royal expert Tom Quinn’s latest book is raising serious questions about Queen Camilla’s acceptance of the crown.
In ‘Yes, Ma’am: The Secret Life of Royal Servants’ Quinn interviewed former and current palace aides, with some surprising results.
Keep reading to discover the truth about Camilla’s anticipation of being crowned queen!
Did Camilla Not Want to Be Queen?
Camilla is King Charles’ second wife and allegedly was reluctant to step into the spotlight. That is understandable for a woman who spent years being berated in the media in no small part due to the late Diana’s assertion that she ruined her union with the heir.
These days Camilla has gotten past the controversies and backlash, becoming more acceptable to the public once Queen Elizabeth publicly endorsed her. But according to Quinn, from the get-go, Camilla “had no desire to wear the crown.”
Royal Author Tom Quinn Dishes on Queen Camilla
In ‘Yes Ma’am: The Secret Life of Royal Servants’ Quinn asserts that Camilla told her aides that she despised the idea of being queen.
This tracks with what we know about her desire for privacy, these days regularly spending time at her private residence without even her husband present.
Before their 2005 marriage Camilla reportedly told Charles that she wanted to “get away from all this protocol … It’s all bollocks.” Apparently Charles replied “You’re going to do it for me, darling.”
True Love Wins Out in Diana’s Shadow
The book claims that Camilla’s reluctance was about her love of privacy, fear of backlash, and “the enduring shadow of Princess Diana.”
Before Diana’s tragic death in 1997 the world was in love with beautiful, young Diana who painted Camilla as the treasonous other woman.
Charles’ sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, reportedly called Camilla “Lady Macbeth” “Cruella de Vil” and “The Witch of the West.”
A Queen by Circumstance
Camilla allegedly preferred the title “Princess Consort” over Queen Consort—a distinction unprecedented in British history.
In 2022 Queen Elizabeth publicly endorsed Camilla as the future Queen Consort and no one dared (nor wished) to go against the beloved monarch.
Charles and Camilla ascended the throne after the queen’s death in 2023 and the vision of Camilla as the nasty homewrecker is now hazy at best. Unless of course Prince Harry decides to write another memoir.
