Queen Elizabeth And Prince Philip Are Forced To Forego Doing This At Balmoral

What has got Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip blue these days? Now that is a loaded question! They are not only dealing with the nightmare of their son Prince Andrew being wanted for questioning by the FBI, but they are also being bombarded with jaw-dropping accusations from the Harry and Meghan bio Finding Freedom.

But there is yet one more thing that is a downer for them this summer and ITV Royal Rota podcast hosts Chris Ship and Lizzie Robinson have spilled the beans on what that is.

Queen Elizabeth And Prince Philip Are Leaving Windsor Castle For Balmoral

The pair are leaving Windsor Castle for Balmoral in Scotland as they do every year but this time around things just won’t be the same. Due to the pandemic, they cannot do many of the things they normally would.

Robinson said, “They go to the Braemar Gathering, see all the Highland Games. The Braemar Gathering is normally the first weekend of September. That’s where you see the tug-of-war, the hammer throwing, the tossing of the caber. There’ll be none of that this year, we’ll have none of those pictures.”

The Braemar Royal Highland Charity announced that the gathering, which was due to take place in September has been canceled.

Nonetheless, there is a bright side as “they will get to spend their summer holidays up at Balmoral. This is something that we know they love. When they go is dependent on whether or not the Government guidelines remain in place.”

For now it is expected that they will travel in August and stay in September.

The Queen And Prince Philip Will Travel This Summer Although Not Too Far Away

Their departure signals the first time they leave Windsor Castle since they began isolating due to the coronavirus pandemic. They are both in their 90s and this is a high-risk group for contracting the virus. Their son Prince Charles is in his 70s and earlier he caught the virus and successfully recuperated.

They plan to leave at a time when the UK lockdown has been easing but extended relaxations are now postponed for an additional two weeks after a spike in coronavirus cases.

For now, individuals are allowed to remain overnight away from their residence, including in a second home, which is why the queen and her husband can travel to Scotland, the very same locale where their son Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, will spend the summer.
