As is the case each year around this time, Queen Elizabeth speaks during a Christmas broadcast. This year, it was held on Wednesday and Her Majesty touched on several topics. One of these included it being a turbulent year. However, there are high hopes for what the Royal Family can accomplish in 2020.
In Queen Elizabeth’s annual Christmas Day address, she spoke of environmentalism. She also discussed the possibility of reconciliation. As the public knows, the United Kingdom was plagued with divisions regarding Brexit.
“… those who had formerly been sworn enemies came together in friendly commemorations… Such reconciliation seldom happens overnight. It takes patience and time to rebuild trust, and progress often comes through small steps.”
Royal News: New Family Addition Brought Joy
Queen Elizabeth also expressed her joy with the newest member of the Royal Family. Earlier this year, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their first child, Archie. He would make the eighth great-grandchild for the queen and her husband, Philip.
In the annual Christmas Day broadcast, Queen Elizabeth also spoke how all it takes is small steps to overcome huge obstacles. No matter how long differences have gone on, she highlighted on the importance of optimism and hope.

Turbulent Year for the Royal Family
As everyone knows, the Royal Family has experienced wonderful moments in 2019. However, the past year has been filled with difficulties and a few scandals as well. One of which is Prince Andrew’s admitted friendship with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The convicted multimillionaire died from an apparent suicide earlier this year. Since the BBC interview, Andrew has withdrawn from his royal duties.
The Queen admitted that there were some bumpy spots, but small steps “make a world of difference.” Other sources claim that in 2020, the Royal Family plans to reinvent themselves after such a rollercoaster year. We look forward to seeing what happens with them all during the upcoming year.
