Buckingham Palace Confirms Storm Caused a Delay in Landing the Queen’s Helicopter

Queen Elizabeth arrived in Windsor on time before her Platinum Jubilee commemorating her 70 years reign kicks off. She flew back from Balmoral, where she traveled to last week for what was called a mini-break. A spokesperson also said that she looks forward to taking more breaks as she plans to have Prince Charles step up during her last few years.

Her Balmoral Estate was also renovated to make her stays there more comfortable, with the addition of a wheelchair friendly lift, security gate, a state-of-the-art intercom system and a string of CCTV cameras.

Her journey back faced some difficulties after her 13-seater jet arrived in London during a storm.

Stormy weather caused the Queen’s private jet to circle the capital for 15 minutes before making a safe landing when the weather subsided.

Buckingham Palace confirmed that while this was going on, there wasn’t any panic concerning the Queen’s safety, even though the jet aborted its previous attempt at landing due to lightning.

Platinum Jubilee Kicks Off

The Queen was later spotted at Windsor Castle with her dogs. The same night, a picture of the Monarch was released to mark the beginning of the festivities, along with a message of thanks from Her Majesty.

The Queen is also set to appear two times on the balcony on Thursday as the Horse Guards Parade take place. Prince Charles will take the salute in her place.

Later on Thursday, the “tree of trees”, the principal beacon, standing outside Buckingham Palace, is set to be lit.
