Queen Elizabeth Suffered From Bone Cancer For Over A Year Before Her Passing

British royal family news reveals that former British prime minister, Boris Johnson, has spilled some tea on how the late Queen Elizabeth really felt as she faced illness prior to her 2022 passing.

Johnson was at the queen’s refuge, Balmoral, Scotland, on September 6, two days before the Queen’s death.

In an excerpt from his memoir, Unleashed, Johnson noted that “Edward Young, her private secretary, tried to prepare me. I had known for a year or more that she had a form of bone cancer, and her doctors were worried that at any time she could enter a sharp decline.”

Queen Elizabeth Passed With Grace

During the visit Johnson was told that the regent’s health had deteriorated “quite a bit over the summer.” Yet the queen remained quite lucid and the illness that wracked her body did not touch her mind.

According to the former prime minister the monarch “still flashed that great white smile in its sudden mood-lifting beauty” during their conversation.

Queen Elizabeth passed away on September 8, 2022. Her death certificate lists the cause of death as “old age” and Buckingham Palace has not divulged any more information on the matter.

The Queen’s Death Occurred September 8, 2022

The late Queen made the decision to spend her final days at the family’s summer home, a choice that her eldest son and heir King Charles has spoken about: “Speaking from a personal perspective, Scotland has always had a uniquely special place in the hearts of my family and myself.”

Charles talked at the opening of the Scottish Parliament to say that his late mother “especially treasured the time spent at Balmoral, and it was there, in the most beloved of places, where she chose to spend her final days.”

The Queen Wished to Pass at Balmoral

Princess Anne, the queen’s only daughter, said in BBC’s 2023 documentary, Elizabeth: The Unseen Queen that the family “did try and persuade her that that shouldn’t be part of the decision-making process. I hope she felt that that was right in the end, because I think we did.”
