Royal fans have reacted to Queen Elizabeth’s speech as she addressed the United Kingdom about the global pandemic that is the coronavirus outbreak. The reigning monarch acknowledged that many families are suffering because of the outbreak and also paid tribute to Britain’s National Health Service and all of the doctors and nurses who are on the frontline.

“I am speaking to you at what I know is an increasingly challenging time,” Elizabeth began. “A time of disruption in the life of our country; a disruption that has brought grief to some, financial difficulties to many and enormous changes to the daily lives of us all.”

The Queen also thanked the entire United Kingdom for staying home and practicing social distancing during these very challenging but also uncertain times. The UK, along with almost every nation in the European Union and around the world have enforced strict quarantine measures in an effort to help stop the spread of the coronavirus. As of press time, there have been over 1.2 million confirmed cases in over 150 countries, with over 252,000 recoveries and 65,711 deaths. That number is expected to rise. In the United States, there have been 311,658 confirmed cases with 8,492 deaths so far.

“I also want to thank those of you who are staying at home,” Elizabeth noted on social distancing, “thereby protecting to help the vulnerable and sparing many families the pain already felt by those who have lost loved ones. Together we are tackling this disease and I want to reassure you that if we remain united in resolute then we will overcome it.”

With that said, it appears as though a lot of people responded quite positively to the Queen’s speech.
