Queen Elizabeth’s Message To Lambeth Conference Touches On Climate Change
In a message sent to the 15th Lambeth Conference on August 3 by the Queen, the Monarch spoke about the pandemic, “Christian unity in a changing world”, and service to people in “places of suffering, conflict and trauma.”
She added: “We also live in a time when the effects of climate change are threatening the lives and livelihoods of many people and communities, not least the poorest and those less able to adapt and adjust. I was interested to learn that the focus of your programme at Lambeth Palace today is reflection and dialogue on the theme of the environment, a cause close to the heart of my late husband, and carried on by The Prince of Wales and The Duke of Cambridge.”
Experts are saying that Prince Harry’s role as a climate change activist was “deliberately unnoticed” by the 96-year-old Monarch, especially as he recently spoke about climate change issues in an unofficial event honoring Nelson Mandela.
In Harry’s July 18 speech, he said that climate change has left him feeling battered and helpless. However, he called on world leaders to act now to “save humanity”.
Apart from using his platform to elevate climate change issues, Harry is also a staunch advocate for eliminating the stereotypes that possibly prevent people from openly discussing their mental health issues.
