Reason Prince Harry Couldn’t Resist Hosting 2027 Invictus Games In the UK Revealed

This year, Prince Harry traveled back to the UK to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Invictus Games, and in 2027, he will return once more to host the iconic games meant to give wounded veterans a chance at reintegrating into the society and finding new purpose for their lives.

While this is good news for the UK – the UK government did woo Invictus Games by the way – it might not be so much for the Royal Family because it just opened a can of speculations that could last for three years.

Prince Harry – Praises Birmingham In Speech But Neglects To Mention Royal Rift

The royal rift is very much still in existence even as we head to the last quarter of 2024. In fact, if some royal experts are to be believed, there’s very little hopes things might change by 2027, but if it did, hurray then.

The big news is that Birmingham, UK, has beaten Washington DC, US, in bid to host the 2027 Invictus Games. It will mark the return of the event to the UK for the first time in ten years.

In a statement to PEOPLE, Harry praised Invictus 2027’s host city Birmingham for their “strong ties to the Armed Forces community” which “made it a formidable contender from the very start.”

He continued, “Over the years, we’ve seen each city bring a unique spirit and vision to life for competitors, their families, and spectators. We have no doubt the people of Birmingham will join in celebrating the unwavering respect and admiration we have for our veteran and service community, showing the world how their courage ignites hope and unites us all — something your city knows well.”

It was inevitable that Harry would choose the UK, feud or no, when the government promised to support the games with a huge sum. “The Government has announced funding of up to £26million to back the UK’s bid to host the Invictus Games in 2027,” the official Ministry of Defence X account wrote.

The move was reportedly decided on by Ministry of Defence Grant Shapps, without any input by the Royal Family.

This will of course give rise to further controversies, as people wonder whether the royals would boycott the charity or turn out to support it regardless of the rift.
