Report Suggests Meghan Markle Is A Financial Royal Headache For The Monarchy

Meghan MarkleEven though she’s fast become one of the most talked-about public figures in the world, it appears as though not everyone is a fan of Meghan Markle behind palace doors.

As a matter of fact, there’s a new report that suggests the former Hollywood actress has been branded as a “financial royal headache” for the British monarchy. Here’s what you need to know.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle debuted their relationship back in 2016. The couple announced their engagement in November of 2017 and tied the knot at Windsor Castle in May of 2018. And in May of this year, they welcomed their first child into the world, their son Archie Harrison.

American Citizen Meghan Markle Still Has Financial Ties To The United States

While it’s certainly been a whirlwind three years for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, there also has been plenty of controversy, missteps and even some drama behind the scenes with Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Sure, no one knows what is really going on at Buckingham and Kensington Palace, but royal fans have definitely been guessing. While there are some people who have welcomed Meghan Markle into the royal family with open arms, there are others who are reportedly still very skeptical of her relationship with Prince Harry.

With that said, there’s a report that suggests the Duchess of Sussex is also causing a lot of problems for the royal family – and their financial statement. That’s because Meghan is an American citizen and even though she now lives in London full time, she still needs to file a U.S. tax return and report any of her foreign accounts.

Meghan Markle’s Tax Returns Have Been Financial Nightmare For Royal Family

This includes assets more than $200,000 (£162,458) and gifts valued more than $15,797 (£12,831.75) “regardless of whether it is actually in your possession,” according to the IRS.

According to Britain’s Express, this situation has been nothing but a financial nightmare for the royal family. Of course, Buckingham Palace has not made any comments about Meghan’s U.S. tax returns and it’s doubtful that anything will be said.

This evening, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the annual #WellChildAwards in London. WellChild aims to ensure every child and young person living with serious health needs has the best chance to thrive with the support and medical care needed in the comfort of their own home. The Duke of Sussex became Patron of WellChild in 2007, and last year both The Duke and Duchess attended the awards to honour the children and families that WellChild supports. The Duke, who first came to these awards over a decade ago, shared in his remarks tonight: “Last year when my wife and I attended we knew we were expecting our first child – no one else did at the time, but we did – and I remember squeezing Meghan’s hand so tightly during the awards, both of us thinking what it would be like to be parents one day, and more so, what it would be like to do everything we could to protect and help our child should they be born with immediate challenges or become unwell over time.  And now, as parents, being here and speaking to all of you pulls at my heart strings in a way I could have never understood until I had a child of my own.” • To find out more about tonight’s event and how you can support this very special organisation, please visit @WellChild Photos ©️ PA images

But with that said, things might become a little bit easier when Meghan becomes a British citizen, which is expected to happen in the coming years.  In the meantime, keep up with Celebrating the Soaps for all the latest news right here!
