Royal Family News: 5 Times Royals Issued Groveling Public Apologies

Royal Family News: 5 Times Royals Issued Groveling Public ApologiesBritish royal family news reveals that the monarchy is infamous for the motto, “never complain, never explain.” Or are they? Here are five times members of the UK’s royal dynasty have dispensed with that rule and issued public mea culpas.

Royal Family News – Sarah, Duchess of York

Sarah was married to disgraced Prince Andrew and cutting the cord has proven impossible—they still live together. In 2011, Sarah was forced to apologize, “for accepting money from convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein to pay off her debts.”

She told The Evening Standard, “I personally, on behalf of myself, deeply regret that Jeffrey Epstein became involved in any way with me. I abhor pedophilia and any sexual abuse of children and know that this was a gigantic error of judgment on my behalf. I am just so contrite I cannot say.”

But wait there’s more! “Whenever I can, I will repay the money and will have nothing ever to do with Jeffrey Epstein ever again. I cannot state more strongly that I know a terrible, terrible error of judgment was made, my having anything to do with Jeffrey Epstein. What he did was wrong and for which he was rightly jailed.”

Royal Family News – The Duchess Of Sussex

Former basic cable actress Meghan Markle, “sent a heartfelt apology to her former Immaculate Heart High School classmates after missing her 20-year school reunion in 2019.”

It was probably unnecessary, but maybe Megs couldn’t resist the chance to rub it in—her letter was allegedly written on Kensington Palace stationary.

She reportedly missed the celebration in May for the class of 1999 because she was heavily pregnant with son Archie.

Royal Family News – The Duke of Edinburgh

The late Prince Philip had a good reason for issuing a public apology in 2019: he hit a woman while driving–at the age of 97.

The Daily Mirror reported that part of the apology letter read: “I would like you to know how very sorry I am for my part in the accident at the Babingley cross-roads… The sun was shining low over the main road. In normal conditions I would have no difficulty in seeing traffic coming from the Dersingham direction, but I can only imagine that I failed to see the car coming, and I am very contrite about the consequences. I was somewhat shaken after the accident, but I was greatly relieved that none of you were seriously injured.”

Royal Family News – Prince Harry

Prince Harry had to apologize for the vile choice to wear a Nazi uniform to a January 2005 party. The Sun published a photograph of the disgraceful prince and the world was outraged leading to a Clarence House statement: “Prince Harry has apologised for any offence or embarrassment he has caused. He realises it was a poor choice of costume.”

Royal Family News – The Princess of Wales

Back in 2020 Princess Kate apologized to a woeful three-year-old named Annabel who had expected to meet a “real life princess” during a trip to Wales. Her mom said she told Kate, “Annabel was really excited to meet a real princess.” Kate replied, “I’m sorry I’m not wearing a pretty dress today.” Showing there were no hard feelings, Annabel later admitted that she thought Kate looked, “like Cinderella.”
