The Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara is familiar to most royal watchers as it is a favorite go-to for Queen Elizabeth. It is simple yet elegant with a band of diamonds encircling the bottom part closest to the head and spikes of diamonds rise up from the band.
This iconic piece is the one often seen in illustrations and photos of the queen such as on banknotes and coins. It was a wedding gift to Queen Mary, who passed it on to Queen Elizabeth.

Royal Family News – The Cartier Halo Scroll Tiara
Kate Middleton wore a different tiara for her 2011 nuptials to Prince William. She wore the Cartier Halo Scroll tiara which was bought by Queen Elizabeth’s father, King George VI, as a gift for his wife.
Eventually he gave it to his daughter and heir, Elizabeth, for her 18th birthday. It is a diminutive version of The Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara as it is lower in profile, covered in diamonds, and with small diamond loops instead of spike rising from the band.
Royal Family News = The Greville Tiara
Camilla Parker Bowles’ go-to tiara was gifted to the royal family by Dame Margaret Greville. Camilla’s mother was the goddaughter of Greville, according to Suggest.com. The magnificent piece has five layers of geometric shapes filled with round diamonds. Still, Camilla apparently found the tiara lacking as she added, “five more diamonds, including a marquise diamond at the top.”
Royal Family News – The Queen Mary Fringe Tiara
The Queen Mary Fringe tiara was commissioned by Queen Elizabeth’s grandmother, Queen Mary. It features elegant diamond encrusted spears which graduate in height toward the back. The current monarch wore it at her 1947 wedding and Elizabeth’s granddaughter, Princess Beatrice, wore it at her July 2020 wedding attended by Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip.
