Royal Family News: Brits Demand Prince William As Their Next Monarch

Royal Family News: Brits Demand Prince William As Their Next Monarch, They Want A King “They Like”British royal family news reveals that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth has spent 70 years as monarch. The 96-year old queen will be followed by her son Prince Charles and he will be followed by his son Prince William. That hasn’t stopped chatter among citizens who would prefer William to leapfrog his father and take the big boy chair next.

In a poll conducted by Express.co.uk, Britons were asked: “Should Prince William be the next King?” the results were astounding.

Royal Family News – Will William Leapfrog Charles?

According to Geo TV, the majority of respondents answered favorably. There were 2,367 respondents, and 76 percent answered “yes” with 23 percent saying “no.”

It seems clear that the people polled prefer Prince William to be their next king. And yet the chances of that happening are slim to none. First, the queen has indicated more than once that she has dedicated her life to her role as monarch—virtually no one thinks she will simply hand over the reins and spend the rest of her life riding horses and/or petting dogs.

Second, Charles has waited his entire life to be king and it is not likely he will simply walk away from the role. Third, William the Duke of Cambridge is second in line to the throne and the monarchy thrives on tradition, not rule bending.

Will Charles Be King Next?

None of this rationale for keeping the status quo seemed to sway those polled however. The majority were adamant that William should be crowned next instead of Charles.

One person responded, “William is wise and will make a fine King. I don’t mind Charles as King, but I worry he will be a soft touch.”

“Give William the job,” said another admirer. One person polled expressed this sentiment: “We need a King and Queen that the people like.” Ouch.

Royal Family News – William Will Be A Fine King

Dickie Arbiter is the former press secretary for the Queen and he weighed in on the subject saying that William has, “the stature and confidence of a King-in-waiting.” William turned 40 this week and indeed he seems to have grown into his role. He is obviously well-liked and regarded with affection and respect by most Brits. But truth be told, there is zero chance he will leapfrog his father as king, he will simply have to wait his turn in line as past monarchs have dutifully done before him.
