Royal Family News: Camilla Duchess Of Cornwall Takes On A Huge Responsibility

Camilla Duchess Of Cornwall British royal family news shows that Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall spent the summer in Scotland, as is the royal family’s tradition. It was the clan’s first summer holiday since the death of patriarch Prince Philip. Philip died in April at the age of 99, surrounded by his loved ones at Windsor Castle.

After his death Camilla made the comment that her father-in-law passed peacefully, and that it was almost as if he was led by the hand gently away from this earth. Following her summer holiday Camilla now has new role to look forward to as she was made the patron of The Mirabel Centre in Lagos, Nigeria, the country’s first sexual assault referral center.

The second wife of Prince Charles is an ardent advocate in the domestic abuse and sexual assault fields. She said of her appointment, “I am delighted to become Patron of The Mirabel Centre in Lagos. It is a truly trailblazing organization, supporting survivors of rape and sexual assault as they seek healing and justice. Their vital work means that women need no longer suffer in silence and I am deeply grateful to all Mirabel’s wonderful staff and volunteers.”

As part of her new responsibilities, Camilla will interact with a group of Nigerian and British Nigerian women to find ways to support the center.

Royal Family News – Camilla Bowels Parker Is Married To Prince Charles

The private organization was launched in 2013 by Itoro Eze-Anaba. The center provides a safe haven for survivors of rape and sexual assault. It has supplied free medical and psychosocial support services to over 6,000 survivors.

Eze-Anaba said she welcomed Camilla’s participation: “The current Covid-19 pandemic has further revealed the endemic nature of sexual violence. “We have seen a huge number of children and women coming forward to report cases of sexual assault and rape.”

“Our youngest survivor is a three-month-old baby, and the oldest an 80-year-old woman. We are confident that the support of the Duchess will make a difference.”

Royal Family News – Camilla Will Help A Survivor’s Organization

Camilla and Prince Charles spent the summer at their Scottish residence, Birkhall, located on Queen Elizabeth’s Balmoral estate.

The famed getaways have become legendary royal family events with tales of picnics, barbecues, sports and family time on the calendar. In particular, Prince Philip was said to be an enthusiastic grill master at the family gatherings.
