British royal family news reveals that she may be royal, but that doesn’t mean that Camilla Duchess of Cornwall gets a reprieve from the common aches and ailments the rest of us suffer through. She has suffered from bunions for years, a subject she has talked candidly about.

Mail on Sunday is now reporting that Camilla is swearing by a pair of Sole Bliss shoes that retail for less than £200.

The shoes are designed by podiatrists to provide extra comfort for anyone who suffers from bunions. Camilla is not the only celeb who love the shoes made by podiatrists to give relief to wide and bunion-prone feet. Among the women who have bought them are Dame Helen Mirren, comedienne Dawn French and Loose Women panelists Denise Welsh and Saira Khan.

Royal Family News – Camilla Duchess of Cornwall Has Bunions And Special Shoes To Match

It was reported that Camilla recently bought two pairs of the brand’s ‘Hero’ trainers; one pair in black and one in navy.

The Duchess usually carries out over 200 public events each year and in the past she has said that her footsies leave her, “screaming in agony at the end the of the day.”

She has said that she is at times desperate to ditch heels, “at every opportunity.”

Then three years ago, when she turned 70, she said that she could no longer tolerate heels over two inches tall. “I can’t do it any more,” she said at the time.

So, what is so special about these particular shoes? According to designer Lisa Kay, they have an ‘innovative bunion bed’, cushioned soles, wider widths, seam-free leather linings and a device to prevent pronation – the inward rolling of the feet.

She spent five years perfecting the technology for the shoes. Bunions are bony bumps that protrude at the joint at the base of the big toe.

Kay told The Mail on Sunday last year that she was delighted when she discovered that Camilla was wearing her shows.

“I was relaxing after a day’s work at my factory in Italy when I first saw a photo online of the Duchess wearing my shoes,’ she said. “We immediately received emails from our customers asking if the Duchess was indeed wearing the same shoes as them! I’m delighted and honoured that Her Royal Highness continues to wear Sole Bliss shoes.”
