British royal family news reveals that Queen Elizabeth has a soft spot for Sophie, Countess of Wessex, and her husband Prince Edward. They are relatively scandal free, photogenic and previously held media jobs. So it would seem like a no-brainer that the pair would step into the void left when unwilling Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ditched The Firm. Not so fast!

Sophie, Countess of Wessex was interviewed by Christina Lamb for the Sunday Times Magazine and made it clear that she was not going to be taking over for Prince Harry and Meghan after they dropped their Megxit bomb.

She said, “We’ve all got our own little portfolios. I don’t see anything changing, but if we’re asked to do more… I don’t know because it hasn’t really happened.”

She went on to say, “I am pretty busy already, so I’m not sure how much more I can do.”

“There are only so many hours in the day. People may pay more attention to what I am doing, but I remain as busy as I have ever been.”

That includes being mom to two school age children, James and Louise.

Despite her modesty, Sophie has done her part to step into the breach created by the Markle’s who no longer wanted to perform royal duties. While the coronavirus pandemic has put a crimp in in-person events, she made up for it by making virtual calls.

Royal Family News – Sophie Wessex Is A Modest Mom Of Two

And Lamb suggested that Sophie has played a behind the scenes role with Meghan and Harry. According to her Sophie, “is said to have become a confidante to Meghan,” during the Meghan’s short and controversial time as a senior royal.

Lamb quoted Sophie as saying, “Remember, I’d had five years to adjust, and for our six-month engagement I was even staying in Buckingham Palace. We all try to help any new members of the family.”

It was also said that she said she hoped that Prince Harry and Meghan, “will be happy.”

Much has been made about when Harry and Meghan might return to the UK for a visit. They were supposed to return for the one year review of Megxit but now reports suggest they may conduct the review virtually.
