British royal family news reveals that Prince Harry, Duke Of Sussex and Meghan Markle have done the impossible: riled up the notoriously gracious Canadians. What did they do to incite such anger? How about using the country as a “halfway house?”
The Globe and Mail dragged the pair for using Canada as, “a halfway house,” and added, “But this country’s unique monarchy, and its delicate yet essential place in our constitutional system, means that a royal resident – the prince is sixth in the line of succession – is not something that Canada can allow. It breaks an unspoken constitutional taboo.”

But wait, even more verbal daggers were thrown at the plucky prince: “Princes are not shipped over here when no useful duties can be found for them on the other side of the Atlantic. Canada welcomes people of all faiths, nationalities and races, but if you’re a senior member of our Royal Family, this country cannot become your home.”
It was also reported, “They reign from a distance. Close to our hearts, far from our hearths.”
Royal Family News: Prince Harry is Not Canadian’s Favorite Son
Harry used the country in between his UK residency and before he fled to the US. One point of contention was the couple’s security costs. Harry and Meghan are VIPs according to them, and so needed round the clock protection. At the time they were in Canada they were jobless and it appeared they wanted the government to pay for their policing.
The government eventually said no way and so the freeloading pair used a private jet to travel south.

Once they were in the US the security matter came up again with President Trump making it perfectly clear that the US had no intention of footing their security bill. A spokesman for the couple huffed back that they were not looking for a handout, even as they were squatting in someone else’s (Tyler Perry) house.
Was Canada wrong to deny the couple some protection? In the end it was a moot point because A. they fled the country, and B. it was reported that Daddy Prince Charles was paying the unemployed couple’s bills anyway.
Things are different now, they have contracts with Spotify and Netflix so presumably that can afford the whole Royal Canadian Mounted Police; but Canada would probably have something to say about that.

I think Harry and Megan treated Canada/Canadians shamefully. Canadians living close to the property where they stayed even tried to help protect their privacy from the paparazzi. Canadians considerately did this because the couple had said privacy was their reason for leaving Queen and county, they wanted to try to live a private life. Many Canadians being considerate of the monarchy understood perhaps the royal stage was getting a bit crowded in the UK and welcomed having them take up residence. However when they left Canada like it was some cheap one nightstand Canada was quite rightly insulted. And this then began making people question their honesty and integrity. Unfortunately these actions prompted people to even more scrutinize their further actions which didn't get better. Their statements about wanting privacy became disingenuous when they continually did their zoom lectures on what they perceived as everyone's faults and then there was the disrespectful stunt in the cemetery when the UK refused Harry's wreath. Both Canadians and the UK respect fallen veterans no matter the country, so this was seen as a terribly self-serving move on the couples part. Then there are the big money deals, which left Canadians thinking was it their intention all along, was Canada just used to soften people up before their real plan. Canadians are not the fools some people like to suggest. Fools mistake kindness for a weakness but kindness is a Canadian strength.
