Royal Family News: Charles And Camilla Plan A Short, “Cheap” Coronation

British royal family news divulges that on the heels of news that Camilla will be crowned Queen Consort comes the revelation that she and Charles will have a Coronation that departs radically from those of the past. According to The Mail on Sunday, the service at Westminster Abbey will be shorter and “cheaper” and the whole shebang has been codenamed Operation Golden Orb.

The news is not shocking given Charles, the Prince of Wales’ aversion to waste and sloth and his indication that he plans to pare down the monarchy when he has the chance.

Prince Charles Will Slim Down The Monarchy

Last Saturday Queen Elizabeth surprised the realm when she declared it her wish for Camilla to be given the Queen Consort title when her son becomes King. It was widely believed that she would be titled Princess Consort.

Prince Charles tested positive for coronavirus last week and he went into isolation. The queen was exposed to him beforehand but the palace has not given an indication of her health at this time. The source told the outlet that the next coronation will be, “shorter, sooner, smaller, less expensive and more representative of different community groups and faiths.”

The Queen’s Coronation was on June 2, 1953. This is her 70th year on the throne and the event is being celebrated with a Platinum Jubilee. Charles’ Coronation will happen within a year of his accession. When Her Majesty was crowned, her husband the late Prince Philip was titled a male consort and, “was not entitled to be crowned, but instead knelt before his wife during the Coronation and pledged to be her ‘liege man of life and limb.’”

The Queen’s mother, Elizabeth, was the last Queen Consort, crowned in 1937.

The outlet also reported that, “Charles wishes to use a new design on the official insignia which appears on postboxes and police officers’ uniforms – choosing the simpler Tudor Crown to replace the current St Edward’s design.”

The source also spilled that his coronation guests, “will be limited to a maximum of 2,000, and the service will be ‘far shorter because you have to consider Charles’s age.’”

That is a very wise decision.
Anything over-the-top would not be appreciate by most of the UK Citizens.
Austerity is what people who can't feed the family want to see.
Shows Charles is in touch with 'His Subjects'…..
……now about the guy who irons his shoestrings.
Wouldn't it be more cost effective to simply buy NEW ONES??
