Charlotte is now seven and she happily posed with her furry friend as they larked about in a field of bluebells. The adorable image of two-year-old Orla, whose name is Celtic and means ‘golden princess,’ is her first public photograph. She was given to the Cambridge family by Kate’s brother, James Middleton.

The beautiful dog was bred by the Duchess’s brother and she arrived at the household just before the the death of their Cocker Spaniel, Lupo, in November 2020. Lupo was also given to Kate by her brother James. Lupo was bred from a litter of puppies from his dog Ella in 2011, and after Lupo joined the family in 2012 he appeared in plenty of photo ops. The name Lupo is Italian for ‘wolf.’
It is said that James kept Lupo’s sister, Luna, and Lupo was a favorite subject of official pictures of the Cambridges; he died at the age of nine.

Lupo joined the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shortly after their marriage. At that time Prince William was a RAF search-and-rescue pilot and he and Kate lived in the Falklands.

Orla looked confident and sassy in her pictures with the birthday girl, Charlotte. Charlotte was dressed in a powder blue sweater and navy blue pants. In one image she is sitting with her arm around Orla who is looking off in the distance, in profile—clearly Orla is a picture taking natural!
It’s been reported that Kate and William had the pick of the litter bred by James but had a little help from Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
