Harry announced with breathless excitement last year that his Penguin Random House memoir would be released in fall 2022; Don’t hold your breath you might turn blue.
Is Prince Harry a Damp Squib?
At the time the hoo-haa around Prince Harry’s intimate tome was astounding and gushy: “an inspiring, courageous and uplifting human story” with Prince Harry writing “not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become.” It sounds like a blockbuster plot, the only problem is actually getting to work on it apparently. Harry has been vocal about becoming a member of the local polo team, but all play and no work can be toxic.
Will Prince Harry Publish a Memoir?
It was rumored that Harry confirmed the book only after PageSix broke the news. At the time, the publishers claimed that the book was “tentatively scheduled” for late 2022. According to Hello! “However, there is now confusion over when the memoir will actually hit book shelves.” Oh my. Another failure to launch for Meghan Markle and Harry?
Will Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Ever Produce a Work Product?
According to The Times’ royal editor Roya Nikkhah, “a spokesperson for Penguin Random House has confirmed that it does not yet have a publication date – and would not confirm whether or not the book would still be released this year.” That doesn’t sound good for the people who gave Harry money to spill his guts, and it’s not a good look for the Sussex brand whatever that is this week.
The Montecito Prince is said to have received a multimillion dollar advance for the memoir which he is not writing, that job belongs supposedly to pro ghostwriter, JR Moehringer. The ghostwriter also worked with Andre Agassi on his autobiography, which was published.
Since Harry is said to be donating the “proceeds” to charity, it’s not just on him to get the book done, there are charities waiting on him. There were concerns the memoir would overshadow the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee next month but that seems like a pipe dream now.
Let’s leave with this juicy tidbit, perhaps the extent of anything close to a memoir Harry will ever get: “I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story — the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learnt — I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think.”
