Royal Family News: Daniel Craig Receives Same Royal Honor As 007Royal Family news reveals that Daniel Craig has been given the same honor as the character he played so well, James Bond. Read on and we’ll fill you in on the details.

Royal Family News – We’ve Been Expecting You, Daniel Craig

Royal Family news reveals that, according to Yahoo News, the Queen did something thoughtful and poignant for the James Bond actor leading up to her death. She gifted him with the same honor bestowed upon the James Bond character: The Order of Saint Michael and Saint George.

On Tuesday, the Queen’s daughter, Princess Anne awarded this honor to the 54-year-old British actor in an investiture ceremony held at Windsor Castle. The Royal Family’s official social media pages shared an image of the moment with the famous Bond film phrase, “We’ve been expecting you,” attached.

The rest of the caption is as follows: “The Princess Royal presents Daniel Craig with The Order of St Michael and St George – the same honour held by his character James Bond – in recognition of his outstanding contribution to film and theatre.”

First Bond Death Ever?

Daniel Craig received the award for his work in film and theater as part of Her Majesty’s annual New Year’s honors list. Fans will recall that Craig debuted as Bond in the 2006 release Casino Royale. He played 007 for the final time in No Time to Die which hit big screens in September 2021.

According to ScreenRant, the actor’s portrayal was originally met with skepticism. However, his performance received greater applause with each installment – a list that includes Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, and Spectre. His final Bond film No Time to Die saw the Craigs iteration of the character killed off for the first and only time in the character’s 59-year cinematic history (and 68-year literary one), per CNET.

And while Daniel Craig clearly delivered his last performance as James Bond and perhaps the last performance for any Bond – ever, the actor has left an indelible mark on the Bond franchise. Earlier this year an actual tombstone was erected at No Time to Die’s last filming location on Kalsoy Island honoring Craig’s iteration of the famous character.

Royal Navy Commander Craig?

Around the same time as the release of No Time to Die, Craig was named Honorary Royal Navy Commander — Just Like James Bond, according to PEOPLE Magazine. The Royal Navy itself announced the bestowal, writing, “Commander Craig’s appointment as an honorary officer reflects his personal support for UK Armed Forces and links it with the legacy created through the guise of the fictional British secret agent.”
